フォトグラファー35周年 / MAL

つい先日、フォトグラファーとしての30周年記念の個展を開催したばかりだと思っていましたが、気がつけば今年で35周年を迎えました。

今もこうしてシャッターを切り続けていられるのは、支えてくださる皆様、そして深く理解してくださる方々の存在があってこそだと、あらためて強く感じています。

いつも本当にありがとうございます。

それにしても、多くの方が口を揃えておっしゃる通り、年々時間の流れの加速度が増していき、日々その実感に驚かされています。

30周年の個展を開催した当時は、ちょうどコロナ禍が始まった頃で、街から人の姿がほとんど消えていた時期でした。

そのため、35周年でも個展を開催できたならと考えてはいましたが、この数年間で、物事の本質的な部分がより明確に見えてきたこともあり、今このタイミングで無理をして開催する必要はないという気持ちが芽生えています。

とはいえ、また然るべき時期が訪れたなら、どこかの地で個展を開催することは考えています。

きっと、これまでと同じコンセプトの延長線上にあるもので、DMなども出さず、静かに、ひっそりと。

【Thank you for the 35th Anniversary / Photographer MAL】

It feels as though I only recently held my solo exhibition to mark 30 years as a photographer—yet, here we are, celebrating the 35th anniversary.

I am once again deeply reminded that the only reason I am still able to keep pressing the shutter is thanks to all those who have supported me, and those who have truly understood my work. I am sincerely grateful to each and every one of you.

That said, as many people often remark, the pace of time seems to quicken with each passing year, and I continue to be astonished by just how swiftly the days go by.

When I held the 30th anniversary exhibition, it was right at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when people had all but vanished from the streets.

Back then, I thought I might hold another exhibition for the 35th.

However, over these past few years, I feel the essence of things has become clearer to me, and I’ve come to realise there is no need to force such an event simply for the sake of timing.

Even so, should the right moment present itself again, I do imagine holding another exhibition somewhere, someday.

Most likely, it would follow the same quiet concept as before—with no flyers, no grand announcements—just quietly, gently, almost in secret.
