My portrait photography concept a doorway to becoming.

私がフォトグラファーとして復帰した時、広告出版業界の頃とは違う、何か他の、誰にも真似できない立ち位置を作ろうと考えた。

以前はストリートファッション誌の表紙などで表現していた、私のポートレートのスタイルやビジュアルを他のフォトグラファーやファッション誌にコピーされるという経験をしたため、今回はそのままコピーができないであろう、ビジュアルではなくコンセプトで勝負しようと試行錯誤を重ねた結果、「存在認知/ストローク」を根底としたポートレートに辿り着いたのである。

何故そのコンセプトに辿り着けたのか。

それは広告出版業界のような規制がないからであろう。

ひとりの Photographer として、ひとりの人として、全くの自由であり、人生そのものをそこに落とし込むことができたからであると、考えている。

そのコンセプトの内容は以下の通り。

" 「あなたの欲しい答えは、この一枚のなかに在る。」

私が撮るポートレートは、その一点への集中に努めるものである。

そして、その根底に流れる理念は「存在認知」であり、心理学用語で「ストローク」とも呼ばれるその定義とは、

「あなたがそこにいることを、私は知っている。」

人の心は「ストローク」がないと生きていけない。 心理学用語で「存在認知」とも言われるその定義とは「あなたがそこにいることを、わたしは知っている」。存在認知（ストローク）をコンセプトに私が撮影するポートレートは、人が自分の存在を生きるためのきっかけや気づきを得るものでもあり、ポートレートを見る側との信頼関係の構築やストロークの交換を目的としたものでもある。その写真の可能性はプロフィール写真のみならず、グリーフケアのサポートや自他を含める大切な人に宛てた深いストロークとメッセージであり、多くの人々に貢献できるものであると考えている。"

このコンセプトに辿り着いた経緯を振り返ると、業界の枠を超え、一人のフォトグラファーとして自分の道を歩んできたことが、ひとつの到達点であり、今の私にとっての目的の実現であったのだと、あらためて実感する日々である。

When I returned to photography, I set out to carve a position that was entirely my own—something no one else could replicate, something different from my past work in the advertising and publishing industry.

In the past, the style and visual language of my portraits—featured on the covers of street fashion magazines—were imitated by other photographers and fashion publications.

That experience led me to a decision: this time, I would not compete with visuals that could be copied. I would focus instead on a concept—one that could not be duplicated so easily.

After much trial and error, I arrived at the foundation of my work: portraits rooted in the concept of existence recognition—what psychology calls a stroke.

Why was I able to reach this concept?

I believe it is because I am now free from the constraints of the advertising and publishing world.

As an individual, and as a photographer, I am now able to work in complete freedom—able to pour my entire life directly into the act of creation.

At the heart of this concept lies the following idea:

“The answer you seek lies within that single frame.”

The portraits I create are devoted to a singular focus.

At their core flows the philosophy of acknowledging existence—

what psychology refers to as a stroke, defined as:

“I know that you are there.”

Human beings cannot live without strokes.

In psychological terms, this is also known as existence recognition, defined as: “I know that you are there.”

The portraits I create, based on this concept of existence recognition (strokes), offer people moments of realisation and opportunities to live their own existence more fully.

They are not only a means of building trust and exchanging strokes between the subject and the viewer, but also hold the potential to support grief care, and to deliver heartfelt strokes and messages to important people—including both oneself and others.

I believe these portraits have the power to go far beyond profile photographs.

They can serve as deeply personal offerings of recognition and connection—

acts of care, presence, and contribution that may resonate in the lives of many.

As I reflect on the path that brought me to this concept,

I find myself feeling that this return to photography—outside the boundaries of the industry, on my own terms—has become both a destination and the fulfilment of a purpose.
